Of Little Boys and Concussions

Sunday morning Kaderick was sitting beside his sister Kaite in Sunday School and just out of the blue for no apparent reason, he stood up on his chair and screamed, "Horsie back ride!!!" while jumping onto Kaite's back. He ended up pulling her and her chair over backwards onto himself sort of sandwiching his head between the concrete floor and Kaite's head. We thought it was just a little bump until we realized that he'd lost bladder control and couldn't stand up straight. He also had no memory of what had happened and kept asking why we were changing his clothes and why his head hurt. So....we eventually took him on to get checked. They said he had a mild traumatic brain injury but no bleeding showed up on his scan so just rest and recover. Oh, and enjoy those $2.500 hospital popsicles and cookies they brought him. Oh, I know....your kid would never do such a thing!

He seems to be back to 100% his normal self. He and Kaite have both completed school for the year and since it's been cold out this week, he and Kaite are busy trying to come up with things to do.
These two are all about “challenges” lately. This is the “handcuffed for an hour challenge.” They have already gone through “survive in the small bathroom for an hour” the “say the word orange over and over for a minute” and the “sit on the couch for 10 minutes doing nothing” challenges.
They came to me yesterday and told me, "We have a confession..." They were both so serious and sober....come to find out they had snuck carrot sticks without asking. Um, yeah....anytime guys. Haha!
My current challenge is to safely raise this little boy and his sisters. LOL
