Hubby has been working hard every evening on the house remodel. We are still working to change two storage rooms into a master suite and the far end of our living room into a 3rd bathroom. The goal was to be done by Kaylas graduation, but since we are doing the work ourselves as time and finances allow, and that date in May is swiftly approaching amid lots of work, weddings, events, sickness, end of the school year testing and so on, I'm beginning to lose hope. Really, it's okay though....to every thing there is a time and a season.
After 15 years of good service, we finally sold our dining room table and chairs. I've always longed for a Walton style farmhouse table with benches and they are finally in style and easy to come by. We are having one built by a nice christian acquaintance and it feels good to support small business. I know Rick could have built one, but remember that small item I mentioned called time? And anyway, I'm not sure we could have done it ourselves for the price we are getting. We had planned to purchase a new dining room sideboard or buffet to coordinate with it, but then I got all cheap and decided to redo the one we have. Am I ever glad I did! It was hours of backbreaking work on my part, but I am in love with the results!
I know...I know...some of you think I'm crazy for painting over that beautiful rich warm oak. Maybe I am, but it's a fun kind of crazy, so just let me enjoy it. The first thing that had to go were the doors! I love that I can actually see and enjoy what is in there now! I covered the mirror on the top shelf with punched tin and I painted the mirror on the second shelf with chalkboard paint. The glass shelf was replaced with a wood one.
Total cost of the hutch project was slightly more than one trip out to eat with the family, but I did have to cook dinner. Ahh well.
While I had the chalk marker out, I gave the board in the entryway a new theme. This one will last through the summer or indefinitely. In other words until I get the itch to do some more chalk art.
Kaderick decided it would be fun to find out what happens when you launch yourself off sisters bed backwards. What happened was stitches after he split his head open on the toy horse stable. As we were leaving the drs office he said, "That wasn't very so bad!" He was quite pleased with the prize the dr gave him. A perfect patient award to take to a nearby pizza shop and choose his own "make your own" pizza. He chose pepperoni without "tomano" sauce because tomano sauce is on his yucky stuffs list.
Between Kaylas school, working, and living in with her grandparents, we don't see much of her these days. We did enjoy having her home a few days ago and we now have all the easter décor up.
