No, I'm not talking about diapers now, although I do my share of that these days. I'm talking about the nice spring-like weather we have had recently (40's and 50's) and the fact that I find myself craving a little color. That means spray paint. =)
Notice the pops of green in the photo above? I find myself loving the new "green apple" green color I am seeing in home decor. The turquoise is still very popular and I love that as well, but we have some turquoise in the master bedroom and also in the girls' room. I am a variety kind of girl, so when I found myself craving color in the living room, my mind immediately went to green. Well, that and the fact that green is my favorite color. These lamps were a wedding gift 16 plus years ago. They began their life in crystal fashion with nice gaudy gold bases. I loved them!
Next, they became a dark bronze color (photo above). I couldn't even find a picture from their crystal years. As is usually the case, a simple little change usually requires another and another. The shades no longer worked, so we had to go shade shopping. Fortunately for me, I found some I really liked at Lowe's for a very reasonable price.
And then the gold mirror was just "too much." Actually, it has been for some time and I just kept putting it off. I don't know why I hesitated....the antique white is just what it needed!
While I had the spray paint out, a few of the smaller frames and things here and there either went white or silver. We rent, but I'm threatening to make some "improvements" to some of the fixtures as well. I'm just not digging the shiny gold ceiling fan (not pictured, to spare you) or the door hardware. What do you think about the curtain rod? It's black. Should I leave it? I do like some contrast, or paint it silver? You can't tell it in the picture, but the curtains actually have a gray and green pattern on a beige background. Since I can't change the wall color (again, that rental deal) these sort of work to tie it all together.
I'm enjoying my green, which just so happened to come to pass the day before St Patricks Day. It also looks terrific for easter and will go well with fall colors and my fun christmas green.
