Prayers for the Head of Ranch Security!

You might remember how badly Kammy wanted a puppy and how we suprised her with a tiny German Shepherd Mix for her birthday in January. She has love him to pieces and he has grown into a very nice, protective family pet. He is just 9 months old, but as you can tell he is a pretty big doggie already.
Kammy missed him very badly the 2 months we were in California and cried many tears.
Yesterday we noticed that he was not quite acting himself and this morning was one sick doggie!
We watched him throughout the day and Kammy spent lots of time outside with him petting and sweet talking him. He wasn't eating, but wanted to please little Kaite when she hand fed him dog food and ice cubes, so he did eat some of those.
I hesitate to be too graphic, but I really did panic when I went out to check on him and found him laying with a puddle of blood coming from his nose and mouth. We called the vet and daddy left work early--meanwhile I tried to prepare the girls for the worst--while we hoped for the best.
On a little lighter side, I did get a little tickled when I heard their earnest prayers sprinkled liberally with teary apologies to Rancher.
"I'm sorry I wasn't nicer, didn't play more, hit you with a stick, ect."
Long story shorted a bit: The vet feels like there is a good possibility that he got into some rat poison that was left here on the property by the previous renters. Rancher is currently in doggie hospital and being treated through the night with Vitamin K, the anecdote for poison along with anti-nausea meds. We will know more in the morning. Meanwhile, Kammy is wondering how we are going to ever going to make it through the night without Rancher guarding the house.
I realize it's "just a dog" and it pales so compared to human life, but as a friend reminded me, "God cares even about the sparrow" and I know he cares about Kammy's Rancher dog~as you can tell in the photo, she is quite attached and more than a little torn up over all this.
