I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I love the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Giving thanks just seems like the very best way to kick off this wonderful time of year! Last year at this time, we were so anxiously expecting this little package.
We bought him this little outfit thinking there was no way he would fit it by this Christmas. He is a big guy! 26 pounds and walking/running all over the place. We are excited for his 1st birthday here in a few weeks and so thankful for God's hand on him! He deals with a lot of allergies and severe itching, but he's still so good in spite of all that. One item of prayer would be that God touches him and he is able to eat more solid foods soon. While mommy does not mind nourishing him, and he seems to be doing just fine, we know that he needs to at least begin to tolerate solid foods.
Sweet little Kaite in the skirt I made her. Daddy went hunting recently and mommy did a ton of sewing while he was away. I think this turned out pretty cute even tough it was just various bits of scraps I had on hand.
A fork in each hand and a jar of baby food too. Don't let it fool you--he ate 2 bites and was done, but he sure looked like he was ready to dig into Thanksgiving dinner!
We had dinner at my parents house. I braved the turkey this year and I must say it was quite tasty. The chicken broth/mayo/butter treatment really works. I also stuffed it with home-made stuffing! So yum! In addition to that, the girls and I made daddy's favorite squash casserole and four kinds of pies! Grandma handled everything else and we were well fed! I love my pie pans--they were a gift from my mother several years ago.
Tradition says that the grandchildren decorate the tree at Grandma and Grandpa's house after dinner on Thanksgiving day. I thought this was a sweet picture of them in action.
Today I have ordered photo Christmas cards and finished up most of my shopping online. I plan to brave the crowds later today for a few minutes. We are excitedly planning a trip to Colorado this year along with a church program, piano recital and several other activities. It's a busy time in some ways, but we love the time spent together in the long evenings doing family things and baking--I'm planning my holiday baking now.
I trust you all are enjoying the season as much as we are and that you will find joy in the reason for the season!
