Spring Rush

Our spring is looking and feeling far too busy already. Rick has LASIK surgery later this week, the kids all have well-child checks on the schedule and several members of the family have dermatology appointments scheduled. We have several year-end school activities planned and a piano recital. We've been busy with yard work and getting ready to plant a garden--which takes us right into a busy summer. My parents will be celebrating their 40th Anniversary with a trip to the Oregon coast and a mini-family-reunion. The minute we get back from that, we start packing up for church camp and following that, it's right back to school.
I plan to cherish every single little moment of quiet and calm I can get. Here are a few miscellaneous photos of us doing some of that cherishing. Smile.

The weather has been perfect. The kids can't get enough of it, and Rancher loves having his little people outdoors with him.

Kaderick discovered the big balls at Target the other day, and he really really wanted to take one home with him.

We cherish our Saturday morning breakfasts as a family. We always have our evening meal this way, but weekdays we don't usually get to breakfast together. This week we had homemade strawberry crème crepes, the week before it was biscuits with homemade sausage gravy and scrambled daddies (scrambled eggs that daddy makes with mayo and maybe some garlic or leftover homemade ranch salad dressing.) Kade already loves to push his chair up to the table and enjoy family meals.

Kade gets busier by the day and braver too. He climbs the chairs, tables, barstools, pulls Rancher's tail and his sister's hair. He throws anything that even remotely resembles a ball and loves to get a reaction. He's actually pretty good and obedient--just an adventurous little guy. He's been having some physical discomfort recently--we go back to his doctor next week.

We try to get out to see Annie at least once a week. She was very happy to see the big load of hay that we brought her--she is a spoiled girl.

Last time we were out to see Annie, Kade wanted to ride. He absolutely loved it and even more absolutely did not want to get off. He didn't just want to sit there either--he rocked back and forth and dug his heels in every time she stopped moving!

We all love Annie--she's become a loved member of our family.

Kaite was thrilled with the baby kittens at Papa and Gramma's house....

.....Annie wasn't sure what to think, but she checked it out gently.

Rancher is ready for evenings around the back-yard fire-pit. He loves his marshmallows. Our fire pit was looking really sad and rusty so I attacked it with a can of rustoleum and was pleased with the results.

That's it for this time. Y'all enjoy your spring, as it rushes past so are a multitude of moments. Make the moments count--especially for the kids. Tomorrow they'll be all grown up. Make time for God and family and all the other important stuff will fit just fine in the space left over.
