Tiny Talk Tuesday

I'm here in California with my tinies. Well, my teddy is here too, but not really here. He's working. Yesterday he said he was working a shorter day. He did. Only 20 hours! :) Anyway....this little girl is homesick. This little girl would be me, lol. Kammy misses Rancher soooo bad. She has sent him emails, bought dog toys for her prizes and looked at pictures of him and cried. She told me that she can't even look at the clouds in the sky because some of them are shaped like Rancher!
More from Kammy:

"I discovered what I need. What I need is a twin...because twins like to do the same things as their twins."
"I bet it's nearly bedtime back in America."
"The next time you buy chicken nuggets for someone, would you get a few for me too?"

At the mall after walking a long time: "My legs are getting crabby!

"Like most 5 year olds, Kammy says, "Mom-my" a lot and like most mommies I say, "Just a minute" a lot. Kammy waits very patiently (sort of) she doesn't ask again but her ceaseless "tick, tock, tick, tock, tick tock" usually gets to me pretty quick.
We were out to eat one night and a lady with a bunch of little boys said, "They aren't used to little girls" Me: "And mine aren't used to boys" Kammy: "Well, there's my dad, but he acts kind of obnoxious sometimes!"

If you follow my blog, you know that the kids have been real sick since we've been here. Kammy is on antibiotics for an ear infection and she describes it as elephants marching and drums beating in her ears.

Kaite keeps telling us, "I 'on't ike 'fornia."

Kaite was being a little demanding and fussy so I said, "Kaite, you would think you were the princess or something" (referring to all the Royal Wedding hype). Kaite says, "No, Kaite boss!"

Kammy was asleep one day and snoring. Kaite walked by and heard her, so she said, "Ammy sound cat!" In other words, it sounded like Kammy was purring.
Kaite is only 2, but she has been homesick as well. I think it's pretty sweet that she calls everything here a house, whether it is the motel, mall or restaurant. Home, she calls home and she wants to go there!

Kalli to me: "Should I ask you a question that I can't really ask you if I can ask you without asking you?"
Kalli: "The only thing to do around here is pop your fingers." (crack your knuckles).

And this week, the last one comes from my 12 year old. She was asked to describe chores in her school-work. She said something like this, "Chores are not always fun, but they are good for you. Without chores, you would get fat and lazy!"
Check out the rest of Tiny Talk here, I've been enjoying it so much!
Oh, maybe you'd like an explanation for the last photo. I was getting a foot rub--for Mother's Day.

What we miss...

While some may think we are on "vacation", we feel more like we are on a mission. :)

My dear hubby has been working 16-22 hour days for 3 and a half weeks now.
We especially feel this way after seeing pictures of spring at home.

While I'm not completely sure that Paul would have ever written that verse in Philippians about being content in every "state" had California existed at the time; we really are content. Smile. Kaite just finished her antibiotics and is feeling much better. Kammy is now on antiobiotics! None of my kids have been sick for over a year, so go figure--California germs! :) Most of you know of Kammy's love for horses, so she was more than a little sad to hear that her dear friend Chesnut had given birth to Starbright. While they are the neighbor's horses, Kammy has taken the duty of naming them.
Personally, I miss the flowers and the spring outdoors. I love tulips and have about a million.

Sort of makes my heart bleed. (That is a flowering bleeding heart, in case you were wondering).

I have two of these bleeding heart bushes at home. Sigh...

I have a little spot at home that has been screaming, "strawberry patch" ever since the first time we looked at the place. I was so disappointed not to be there to plant this year....what do you know?!?!? My parents planted 41 plants here for me! Spoiled????

Potato patch and trees beyond.

I think I'm going to have to frame this one for Kammy's room. She'd LOVE it!

Papa watering the garden! I know he went to a lot of work here.

One more shot of the flowers. See what I'm missing? Actually, we got word since here, that the house we are renting has an offer on it. Nevermind the fact that we have a signed 12 month lease and they are not even supposed to list it during that time. Legally, we can stay until the lease is up, but it might cause some stress and certainly takes some of the fun out of it. Please....if you are a landlord and have renters who care for the place better than you ever did--don't take them for granted. We have done soooo much work here. I jokingly said that in order to "leave the place in the same condition we found it in", like the contract says, I am going to have to order a dump truck of pet hair and dirt to scatter through the house and take a rake to the freshly painted walls.

Yeah....I know. God has a better plan. Well.... at least another plan. Smile.

PS, I've ordered tulips, lilacs, willow trees, lots of strawberries, horses for Kammy and a creek for my cabin in Heaven.

The best thing my mother ever did....

....had me! Heehee. You think I jest. Really, I'm as serious as I get.

I could go on and on with a list of great things about my mom...all the wonderful loving things, all the memories, hugs and kisses, but really-- I am just sooo thankful that she gave me the gift of life. There is just nothing like it! :) Of course, the fact that she was a wonderful mommy and made my life so pleasant, might be part of why I value life so much. I have two little ones with ear infections, of all things so I am busy cuddling and loving. If it weren't for that, I might really wax eloquent. lol. I was thinking of doing a post about all the reasons Mary was chosen to be the mother of Jesus and all the ways we mothers should pattern our 'mothering styles' after hers. Think about it... she had to watch her 'baby' be criticized and despised and in the end, she had to 'give him back'. There's more...but there's not time. I need to pass out motrin, cold packs, and hugs.
Anyway...back to my mommy and the best gift she gave me.
Without a doubt...
Hands down...
Life.
Thanks for being my mommy,
So I could be theirs!
"Mommy-hood"
It's the greatest!

And my favorite Mother's Day scripture verse?
He will feed His flock like a shepherd: He will gather the lambs in His arm, He will carry them in His bosom and will gently lead those that have their young. ~ Isaiah 40:11

...and underneath are the everlasting arms...Duet. 33:27
