The Fourth

The 4th of July has long been a special holiday for our family. We always enjoy going to the little town of Greenleaf for the parade and other fun small-town activities.

This photo was taken last year. We sure missed grandma today, but we know that she is enjoying a freedom this world can only dream of knowing.

We do love Idaho, but have talked recently of how God can make us happy "in any state." It is his will that makes us truly content.

Kaite and Kaderick dressed up in colonial clothing for the parade. Kaite walked all the way through it, but Kaderick had to stop and catch candy most of the time. Haha.

Kaite got the sunbonnet at children's camp this summer and Kaderick borrowed Kammy's three-cornered hat. All the rest of their costume came from stuff we already had. I even made his little ascott from a doily that was grandmas.

Of course Kammy rode a pony in the parade. She rode with her instructor and some friends from lessons. They even brought a tiny baby foal along.

My front porch looks the same every year I suppose, but I still have to take a picture. I love the American flag with my geraniums, blue lobelia and alyssum.

Never happier than when on horseback.

Even Mini was in the parade this year! She was a big hit with her white fur and red and blue adornings! Everyone loved her and surprisingly, she did very well!

Our littlest patriot.

Cutest canine cousins anywhere! My nephew and his wife spent the day with us. We loved having family, and the animals were quite happy with the arrangement as well.

You've just got to love Independence Day in small-town America, especially one that boldly proclaims, "This is not a gun free zone!" In the evening, we watched the festivities in DC. What an amazing celebration of our country and armed forces our president hosted! It was fun to see it all happen on the very grounds we walked just a week ago! How blessed we are to have a president who loves this land and desires to see her return to her God.
